For Laminate, Floating Floors and Vinyl Tile and Plank.
Measuring your rooms for the above products is very straight forward as the material comes in panels, tiles or modules. What we will be doing in the next step is to work out the net floor area of the room ( without wasteage factor ).
We have shown a simple example of this process below.

1. Draw out the room in sketch format, then divide the areas into "square / rectangular" sections.
2. Measure the dimensions as shown above for the areas created on your plan.
3. Area A as you can see is 4.2m x 3.3m = 13.86 sq mts ( net )
4. Area B is a smaller area of 3.20m x 2.20m = 7.04 sq mts ( net )
5. Areas A & B are added together to make a net area of 20.90 sq mts without waste being added.
6. We suggest the use of 7% as a waste factor = 1.46 sq mts
7. This is added to the net area of 20.90 sq mts to = 22.36 sq mts ( gross )
8. You have to buy in full packs so divide this area by the pack size ( 2.21 sq mt in this case ) = 10.11 packs, which cannot be purchases as you have to order in full packs, so you will need 11 packs.
9. Now note how many door profiles, how much underlay and other accessories you may require. |
